Founded in 2007, Key Management Solutions, LLC (KMS) is a Veteran Owned Small Business (VOSB) that provides Information System Security Engineering (ISSE), Department of Defense (DoD) and Federal Certification & Accreditation (C&A), Research, Development, Test and Evaluation (RDT&E), and Rapid Technology Transition services with an emphasis on supporting the development and transition of NSA Suite B-enabled Commercial Solution for Classified (CSfC), Secure Cloud, Cross Domain Access (CDA) and/or Quantum Computer Resistant Algorithm-enabled Prototype and Instantiation efforts. KMS is headquartered in Colorado Springs, Colorado and provides world-wide support for our DoD, Federal, commercial, and Inter-Agency customers and efforts from our locations in Colorado Springs, San Diego, Tampa, Charleston, and the Washington, DC / Baltimore.
Over the years, while providing technical and Program-level Information System Security Engineering (ISSE) and Research, Development, Test and Evaluation (RDT&E) support services for countless Advanced Concept prototype development efforts, we have seen a number of exceptional technologies die on the vine because they could not satisfy Information Assurance requirements, were field tested unsuccessfully or tested in the wrong test environment, and/or did not provide the minimum system documentation required for a successful transition to a Program of Record. Unnecessarily stopping these efforts not only wasted taxpayer dollars, but negated the possibility of transitioning potentially life-saving technologies to our war-fighters, coalition partners, partners for peace, civil servants and/or First Responders.
Driven by this understanding, the Mission of KMS is to Advance Advanced Technologies in following two ways:
In addition implementing most applicable, industry standard ‘best practice’ Management processes, KMS has implemented all CMMI for Services version 1.3 Maturity Level 2 Process Area (PA) practices as independently reviewed by a CMMI Institute-Certified, SCAMPI High Maturity Lead Appraiser for CMMI-SVC. KMS CMMI PAs implemented include Work Planning (WP), Work Monitoring and Control (WMC), Requirements Management (REQM), Configuration Management (CM), Services Delivery (SD), Supplier Agreement Management (SAM), Measures and Analysis (MA), and Process and Product Quality Assurance (PPQA), and Risk Management (RSKM).
Initially sponsored by the Office of the Secretary of Defense (OSD) and other process improvement organizations, the Software Engineering Institute (SEI) Capability Maturity Model Integration (CMMI) is a process improvement approach that provides organizations with the essential elements for effectively and optimally perform critical, customer-supporting processes. KMS provides all internal and customer-provided services under the instantiated CMMI for Services version 1.3 PA processes and procedures to include all KMS/Partner teaming agreements and all operations of the KMS NSA Suite B / Commercial Solution for Classified (CSfC) Lab.
KMS engineers and Managers take great pride in our development and implementation of an overall tailored management approach that strikes a balance between efficient and automated processes and procedures (that satisfy unique contractual requirements of our Technology Transition and Program Support efforts) and autonomy and empowerment at the engineering level (which allows engineers and managers greater freedom to effectively perform direct task and/or KMS-funded Independent R&D).
